Welcome to ThanetCAN, an informal network of creative-minded people in Thanet. Whether you are an artist, performer, administrator or simply a viewer, the aim is to provide a meeting place where ideas, skills and events can be developed, promoted and reviewed.

Creative Clusters

"A creative cluster includes non-profit enterprises, cultural institutions, arts venues and individual artists alongside the science park and the media centre. Creative clusters are places to live as well as to work, places where cultural products are consumed as well as made. They are open round the clock, for work and play. They feed on diversity and change and so thrive in busy, multi-cultural urban settings that have their own local distinctiveness but are also connected to the world. "

Thanet Council's Corporate Plan

Support the creative and cultural visitor economy: define a cultural vision for Thanet; deliver an annual Thanet Festival programme; Turner Contemporary; maximise the commercial and cultural opportunities associated with being a coastal location.

Cultural and Creative Industries

The Cultural and Creative Industries include performing and visual arts, film, photography, publishing, digital technology, fashion, website design, music and theatre. (One funding intiative included antique and art retailers under this heading).
